Tiger Eyes®
The beautiful amber glow of a tiger’s eye!
An exceptional golden-leafed form of cut leaf staghorn, Tiger Eyes® was discovered by Steve Jorgensen of Bailey Nurseries.
New growth in a lively chartreuse green that changes quickly to yellow. Both shades contrast beautifully with the rosy-pink leaf stems for a truly eye-catching effect.
Magnificent in summer, Tiger Eyes® becomes even more dramatic in the autumn with striking shades of yellow, orange, and intense scarlet.
This lovely sumac would be a standout in any landscape design, with branches that angle upward as the deeply cut leaflets drape elegantly downward.
A very hardy shrub, it tolerates a wide range of soils as well as urban conditions and is adaptable to both poorly drained soils and very dry soil.
It doesn’t sucker profusely and does not have a heavy seed set.
It’s easy to see why this unique sumac was voted the 2007 Gold Medal Plant Award winner.
Here are three great reasons to grow Tiger Eyes®:
- Lively chartreuse green new growth that changes quickly to yellow.
- Color is even more dramatic in the autumn, with shades of yellow, orange, and intense scarlet.
- Delicate look with leaflets that drape downward from upward angled stems.
